National Pharmacists Day
January 12, 2022 is National Pharmacists Day. This is a day meant to acknowledge the important role of pharmacists in healthcare and to thank them for their work. While all pharmacists are poised to impact patients’ lives, oncology pharmacists certainly play a very active role for patients who are on treatment for cancer.
Oncology pharmacists navigate the increasing complexities of oncology treatments. They consider everything from the new and old medicines, calculating doses and changes needed, to the constantly evolving treatment regimens, and individualized or targeted therapies, not to mention understanding how all of these interact. They must also remain informed of the reimbursement and regulatory environments, and effects of value based care on patient and provider choices. Oncology pharmacists help prepare patients for potential side effects or help with the management of adverse events of their particular therapies. They partner with providers and our care teams by sharing resources, expertise, and best practices.
The Thompson Difference
At Thompson Cancer Survival Center and Thompson Oncology Group, we have an extraordinary team of Oncology Pharmacists. These highly educated and experienced professionals bring such value to our providers and clinical staff, but also and mainly to our patients.
Without doubt, we are proud and thankful to work with our Oncology Pharmacists and every day we value the care they give our patients, but today, we celebrate it.
If you see any of the following team members, please take an extra moment to say thanks and …
Happy Pharmacists Day!
